Are you in your comfort zone? Do you need to get out of it? How will you know this? Well, we often talk about this common term. But before taking any action for the same, it is important to know what it is.

A comfort zone is also known as a safe place, a favorite spot, or a place of security. This means you may be doing something where you feel safe and secure.

You may be at a point in your life that is your favorite spot, and you don’t want to leave that place because you are happy there.

Overall, our life revolves around certain zones. But how would you know the right time to stay at a particular place or leave it?

Below we will uncover the comfort or safe zone and its other dimensions.

What is a Comfort Zone?

The popular definition of the comfort zone is when you don’t try to do something new. Or when you don’t use your abilities and live in a comfortable place. But this is not true.

The comfort zone is not what most people think. When it comes to being in a safe zone, it never means something bad and negative. You can’t interpret someone’s life based on their current job.

For example, your father has been working for a company for more than 20 years. He didn’t try something new and kept doing the same thing. You may think that “my father is in a safe zone of their life because he doesn’t take risks.” Doing something continuously never means someone is afraid of leaving their favorite spot.

This may mean he really enjoys whatever he is doing. Here we want to say that if you do something and you are happy and satisfied with the same, you are not in your safe zone.

For instance, your passion is to serve poor children and arrange meals for them. You may be doing it through an NGO. If you are following your passion and have no regrets, it is your favorite spot and you must live it. You don’t have to do something else just because of what others say.

On the other hand, it is a safe zone for you if you are having trouble doing your current assignment but still doing the same thing without trying anything else.

Let’s say you have got a fracture in one of your feet. You are resisting the pain, taking painkillers, and trying to avoid the same. But you don’t want to visit a doctor. Once the problem gets serious, you consult a doctor.   

Switching from the favorite space of your life is not always easy. It gives you pain and brings new challenges. This is because you have considered that a safe zone for yourself. It requires a proper strategy to bring a transformation.

Tips To Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

If you have understood it in the above section, it is time to leave this zone. Below are some tips to help you get out of your comfortable space.

1. Try doing things differently every day

Leaving your comfortable space requires some effort from your end. This is because it has been a place of security for a long time. You first need to make some changes in your daily life to leave it.

You need to break that habit on a daily basis, such as using a smartphone on the bed. All in all, you have to replace your comfortable habits with something productive.

2. Learn new skills

You may be in your safe zone because of a lack of required skills. If this is true, it’s time to add new skills to your life. Learning new things gives you confidence and a reason to leave your safe zone.

3. Try changing your diet

Your physical and mental fitness is directly or indirectly responsible for most of your life incidents. So, if you are following a particular diet for a certain time, you should try replacing it with something new. Make sure your diet is healthy. It is not something you eat to satisfy your monkey mind.

4. Start physical activities

Challenge yourself through a fitness goal. For example, give yourself a target to run 10 miles in the next ten days. It will be a challenging transition for you.

5. Go out of your belief system

If you have created a belief system for yourself that stops you from growing, it is time to challenge your beliefs. You can think about what you need to do if you are somehow surviving. This is just a limiting belief that won’t let you grow. Understand the root cause of that belief and replace it with something positive.

6. Find out the big reason

When it comes to leaving your comfortable space or doing anything significant, having a reason always works. This can be a personal or professional reason that lights up the fire within you. For example, you may have suffered from financial issues for a long time but now you want to become financially independent.           


Ask yourself honestly how you can spend your entire life in a safe zone. Remember that you can hide the truth from the world but can’t lie to yourself. If you have achieved your dreams and don’t want to explore further, then it’s not your comfort zone but rather your dream life.  

If your inner self says you need to achieve some more goals, but you don’t take any action, then you are in your safe zone.
